While it may seem social media has taken over, email marketing is still very important with any type of online business. Sending emails, whether marketing or simply newsletter emails, allows you to interact with your audience, provide special promotions and discounts, and announce things you are excited about with your business. Here are some tips for getting those emails noticed and actually read.

Email Marketing Tip #1: Start With a Good Title

The title of your email is by far the most important part when it comes to getting it opened. If it is dry and boring, someone isn’t even going to notice it in their dozens of unread emails. Some people are getting hundreds of emails a day, so you need something that captures their attention. However, you want to be careful here, because click bait email headings can get annoying for some people who know better. In the title, you should make it intriguing, while describing exactly what the reader can accomplish by opening it. Give them a brief reason why they should open it. For example, you would open “Get a free stock photography pack” before you would open “Update on stock photography” because you know what to expect.

Email Marketing Tip #2: Write About Something Relevant

Even if you need to send an email about a new product or promotion, you can still incorporate current trends and relevance into the email. This makes it more enticing for your readers. For example, if you know everyone in your target market is talking about pantone being the new hit color for the next year, and you happen to have a product with this color in your store, you already have your inspiration for the email. Mention something about pantone being in your new line of products, and you will definitely get more attention to your email.

Email Marketing Tip #3: Include High-Quality Content

Instead of just writing a couple lines in your email and including relevant links, add some high-quality content. Write a short article for the email that will give your audience valuable information. This gives them something to read and shows you have taken the time out of your day to write something they truly care about. When deciding on the newsletter email’s content, think about how you can help your target market. What are they currently struggling with? What do they frequently ask questions about? This is a good place to start.

Email Marketing Tip #4: Make it Conversational

The last thing someone wants to read in an email is something dry, boring, and that is difficult to read. You should always have a conversational tone that is more casual in these emails. You want it to be very easy to read. Think about how you would talk about this information if the customer or reader was right in front of you. Use that as your technique for writing the emails. While it should still remain professional, it is possible to include a conversational tone as well.

These easy tips will help you to write better business emails for marketing and other purposes. Remember to always proofread your work!
